It
is indeed a matter of pleasure and pride that the heritage
Medical College and Hospital Kolkata is now on the web.
The website was launched on 28th January, 2006 on the
172nd Foundation Day of the College. The site was launched
by the senior most staff member of the college, in presence
of Prof. (Dr.) Jayasree Mitra (Ghosh), DME, West Bengal,
many of the Past Principals, dignitaries, teachers, students
and ex-students of the college. |

The
launching of the website was done in the inaugural
session of the Foundation Day Celebration on 28th
January. This was followed by the reunion of the
ex-students of the college that went on till 31st
January through various interactive sessions, seminars
and discussion. |

We
have in mind to serve three type of communities
through this website.
First
is to serve the teachers
and students as e-learning process will be implemented in the
website. Professors shall write on different subjects
and students will get their requisite lessons. In
course of time, the archive of the lessons will
form e-book and quench the thirst of knowledge. |

Second
is for the practitioners, who can join the forum through this website
where spot cases and case study presentations
will be hosted for the information of the
fellow practitioners. With the passing of
time, archive of such case studies will act
as referral guidance to the practitioners. |

3rd
and most vital is information for the patients for whom this first hospital in Asia was founded
way back in 1835. Common people can get to
know the services, diagnostic points and doctors
including the timing of outdoor & pay
clinic and specialty centers. They don't need
to run to have these information. We have
in mind to turn this website into a full fledged
e-governance site where patient can interact
with the hospital authorities for their requirement. |

Launching
of the website |
Through
this website we can recapitulate the college
and hospital activities. We can gather valuable
information about the heritage and history
of the college, hospital, great personalities
enriched the college, learned teachers, doctors
who had served the organization during last
170+ years. We can not ignore these vulnerable
information. There are certain glorious events
like experimentation of wireless much before
Marcony and the great olympians of the college
& so forth. |

It
now becomes our obligatory responsibility
to maintain and update the website with
more information and make it more purposeful.
